Serving the milk supply chain in Kenya/2

The “Milk Vision 2030” project, co-funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region, entered into full swing with a field training mission

Mani Tese’s efforts continue in Kenya, and in the specific context of the Molo River Basin, to support sustainable and conscious development of the milk supply chain, with the primary goal of increasing food security for local communities and, at the same time, promoting entrepreneurial development in the sector. A recent field monitoring and training mission marked a further step in this direction.

Milk Vision 2030 Project

The “Milk Vision 2030” project, co-financed by the Emilia Romagna Region, culminated with a mission to Kenya to exchange experiences and training by Efrem Nicola, an expert Italian cheesemaker. Efrem’s mission was aimed at training young people in cheese production, in collaboration with the Casumaro Maurizio company, one of the Italian project partners.

Through hands-on workshops and training sessions, Efrem imparted fundamental skills in dairy production, supporting the diversification and expansion of the milk value chain. His efforts involved staff, cooperative members and especially young people, future players in the industry.

This milestone allows Mau Juhudi, a producer group benefiting from the project, to expand its product range, offering new opportunities for growth and economic development. A significant step forward for the community now exposed to advanced processing techniques.

After visiting the stables, Efrem pointed out that the producers “milk is of good quality and also suitable for processing. ‘I was impressed by the passion and commitment of the Kenyan producers,’ Efrem said. ‘I am convinced that this project is an important first step in bringing lasting development to the region and improving the producers’ living conditions.”
