Mani Tese continues its commitment in Kenya, and in the specific context of the Molo River basin, to support a sustainable and conscious development of the milk supply chain, with the primary objective of increasing food security for local communities and, at the same time, promoting entrepreneurial development in the sector. A recent monitoring and training mission in the field marked a further step forward in this direction.
Milk Vision 2030 Project
The project “Milk Vision 2030”, co-financed by the Emilia Romagna Region, culminated with the mission in Kenya to exchange experiences and training by Efrem Nicola, an expert Italian cheesemaker. Efrem's mission was aimed at training young people in cheese production, in collaboration with the company Casumaro Maurizio, one of the Italian project partners.
Through hands-on workshops and training sessions, Efrem has imparted fundamental skills in dairy production, supporting the diversification and expansion of the milk value chain. His commitment has involved the staff, the cooperative members and especially the young people, future protagonists of the sector.
This achievement allows Mau Juhudi, a producer group benefiting from the project, to expand its range of products, offering new opportunities for growth and economic development. A significant step forward for the community now exposed to advanced transformation techniques.
After visiting the stables, Efrem emphasized that the milk produced by the producers is of good quality and also suitable for processing. “I was impressed by the passion and commitment of the Kenyan producers,” said Efrem. “I am convinced that this project is an important first step towards bringing lasting development to the region and improving the living conditions of the producers.”
