Between 26 and 29 April 2021, the first international mission on the project took place in Mozambique since the pandemic broke out. Stefano Cigarini of Fondazione E35, partner of Mani Tese in the Rural Quelimane project, came to Quelimane to strengthen relations with the town hall and establish the next steps in the collaboration with Mani Tese.
The “Rural Quelimane: produces, grows and consumes sustainable” project is co-financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and is under construction in Mozambique. It aims to promote sustainable rural development in the province of Zambezia.
During the mission, an E35 technical consultant, with the help of Stefano, held remote training with the officials of the municipality of Quelimane on the adoption of the main strategic actions of the “Covenant of Mayors”. Indeed, one of the objectives of the pact is to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 40% by 2030. During the training, the criteria and tools for measuring the city’s CO2 emissions were illustrated, which will allow us to understand the ecological impact of the city of Quelimane.
About 15 municipal officials took part in the training and showed great interest and participation. Here are some photos of the training:
