Quelimane is the capital of bicycles in Mozambique; there are more than 5,500 of them and they are often used as cycle taxis as there are few conventional four-wheeled taxis.
Thanks to the Urban Sustainability project: enhancement of good practices in Italy and Mozambique, co-financed by the Lecco Committee for Peace and Cooperation among Peoples, 4 equipped bicycles have been delivered in these days, which will be used for the delivery of food products local and healthy in hotels, bars, restaurants and private citizens.
Deliveries will start from the Aquima and Central markets in Quelimane, where Mani Tese has intervened with several redevelopment projects, and will also contain fruit and vegetables grown by some producers personally involved in the Mani Tese projects.
This small initiative is a great news for Quelimane, the Mozambican capital of bicycles, which is becoming more and more a sustainable city.
