Mani Tese is active in Guatemala with the project “Fight against undernutrition in the department of Chiquimula” to fight hunger and improve the sanitation conditions of the communities.
Unfortunately in recent months, with the arrival of the Coronavirus, the already critical situation of the population has further worsened: on the one hand, in fact, a health emergency has arisen that has not spared even Guatemala (41,135 Covid cases and 1,573 deaths at 23 July according to the WHO), on the other hand, the blocking of work activities has increased hunger and poverty.
However, efforts to support families in the area did not stop and, thanks to a donation from Mani Tese Firenze dedicated to the Coronavirus emergency, food was delivered to 166 families of the Guayabillas community in the municipality of Jocotán, Chiquimula department.
The intervention follows another activity that took place in May and dedicated to the prevention of the Coronavirus and the improvement of agricultural production.
